Cronulla Exterior Soft Wash

Coastal homes take a beating from salt air, and this Cronulla property was showing it: green growth creeping across the render, a roof gone dull, and timber fencing that had lost its colour. High-pressure cleaning would have driven water behind the render and stripped the coatings, so soft washing was the right call.

We applied a low-pressure biocidal treatment across the render facade and roof, let it dwell to kill the organic growth at the root, then rinsed gently. The timber fencing and weatherboard were treated with a softer solution to lift the grime without raising the grain. Driveways and pavers were cleaned to match.

Soft washing is as much about protecting surroundings as cleaning surfaces. We pre-wet and covered planting, controlled the chemical dilution for each material, and kept the wash off adjacent glazing and paintwork.

The result holds far longer than a pressure clean because the growth was killed rather than just blasted off. Three days across the full exterior, with a finish the owners were genuinely surprised by.
